In July, I hauled him to the Hi Desert Horseman's Association show - we didn't compete, but I led him around and even rode in the warm up arena. So, today was another HUGE leap forward. it was also the first time he hauled in the 2 horse trailer with another horse. Jack brought Noah along so he could film Corey's work without having to walk all over a 22 acre facility.
Corey loaded perfectly, he hauled without a fuss. We unloaded after a 45 minute haul and he was calm and happily munched on his pellets while I helped my students get their mares through the indoor obstacles. Then I got Corey and led him over bridges, across water, on a teeter totter and under a 'cowboy curtain" of pool noodles. This is without a doubt the calmest and smartest horse I have ever met.
We even fooled around with an American Flag - that was about the only thing that spooked him.
I am not going to say he never did anything bad, he got worried about a plane kite hanging in the rafters when it started blowing in the wind. He didn't like the canyon crossing (you will see it in the video) and he was a bit resistant to cross the water outside. That was the one time when he resisted that I didn't just get off and lead him through. I felt he could cope with it - and he did.
Overall, I am Thrilled with him. We need to travel more and see more new places but for a 3 yr old horse with less than 10 weeks under saddle - Corey Rocked!!! Now we need to go meet cows!!!
